Two Beers Brewing has announced the second beer to join the ranks as part of the growing Seattle brewery’s new limited edition Alta Series. Ascension Triple IPA, a powerful yet balanced beer ringing in at 15.4 percent ABV and 100+ IBUs, will be released at the Two Beers Brewing tasting room, The Woods, on Saturday, May 18 at 11 am. Just as with the release of Two Beers Brewing’s Switchback Russian Imperial Stout – the first beer of the Alta Series, which sold out in just one week – only 1,000 bottles of this coveted beer will be available for purchase.

“When we first released Ascension as the flagship beer for the Seattle International Beerfest last year, people couldn’t believe a beer so high in alcohol could be so well balanced and approachable,” stated Joel VandenBrink, founder and head brewer at Two Beers Brewing Co. “It was only available that one weekend last summer and we’ve been receiving requests to bring it back ever since. The launch of our Alta Series provided us the perfect opportunity to do so, as well as give this unique beer the attention it deserves.”

Aged for eight months in stainless steel, Ascension Triple IPA is Two Beers Brewing’s most powerful beer yet. Offering a 15.4 percent ABV and 100+ IBUs, Ascension is a true Triple IPA utilizing triple the amount of hops as needed for the brewery’s Evolutionary (Evo) IPA, the recipe for which acts as the base for this delicious beer. While high in alcohol, Ascension is deceptively well balanced and smooth, featuring a moderately sweet palate with strong notes of caramel and citrus, including grapefruit, passion fruit and tangerine.

As a special bonus, May 18 will also mark the release of Two Beers Brewing’s first sour beer, Flanders Brown Sour Ale. Featuring a base of the brewery’s popular Hearth Winter Warmer re-fermented with Lacto, the Flanders Brown Sour Ale offers a nose of cinnamon and nutmeg, complemented by a unique palate of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, oak and allspice. This limited release beer – featuring 30 IBUs and an 8.7 percent ABV – will be available only in 22-ounce bottles.

Craft beer enthusiasts can purchase 22-ounce bottles of Ascension Triple IPA for $14 each (limit six per customer) on Saturday, May 18 beginning at 11 am at The Woods tasting room, one week before they are released to Seattle-area retailers and bottle shops. Five-ounce tasters will be available for $7 each. Bottles of Flanders Brown Sour Ale will be available for $8 each. Attendees of the Ascension launch party will also enjoy a special lineup of Two Beers Brewing beers on tap, including barrel-aged Evo IPA, barrel-aged SoDo Brown and limited edition Prosperity IPA, as well as nine additional seasonal and year round offerings. Last but not least, popular food truck Evolution Revolution will be on site serving up delicious New American street food.

Featuring four bold, complex ales – each reaching above 9.0 percent ABV and boasting its own distinct personality – Two Beers Brewing Alta Series is designed to offer a unique twist with every sip. Whether its the complexity obtained by aging in brandy barrels, the tartness imparted by fresh fruits or unique twist provided by a complex blend of spices, the Alta Series sets out to distinguish itself from the others and reach the upper limits. In addition to a new look for the growing Seattle microbrewery, including screen-printed bottles and a hand-dipped wax seal, each bottle is signed and individually numbered by the very person who bottled it. The final two beers in the series are scheduled for release in August and November, with Switchback Russian Imperial Stout making its return February 2014.

On Saturday, March 9, Airways Brewing will celebrate three exciting years of growth and expansion with a celebration – and several new releases – not to be missed.

Adding on another first for the Kent-based brewery, Airways’ third anniversary will mark the release of the brewery’s first cans to market. Offering a distinct new look and feel, the 16-ounce cans will house two new brews – Oatmeal PSA™ (Pale Session Ale) and Pre-Flight Pilsner™ – adding to the brewery’s growing year round line up. From 2-7pm, craft beer enthusiasts can pick these cans up for the first time – the week before they are released to market – as well as enjoy giveaways, cask releases, food from Lumpia World, the release of Airways Third Anniversary Belgian Dark Strong (available in 22-ounce bottles) and more!

“It’s been a crazy ride, and we could not have done it without support from the local craft beer community,” said Alex Dittmar, cofounder and head brewer at Airways Brewing Company. “When we started in 2010, we never imagined we’d now have two successful locations and a host of packaged products that continue to fly off the shelves. We can’t thank everyone enough for their continued support of Airways Brewing.”

Available in four-packs of 16-ounce cans and on draught, the Oatmeal PSA (Pale Session Ale) and Pre-flight Pilsner will become the newest additions to Airways Brewing’s year round lineup. The Oatmeal PSA is a unique, full flavored beer, featuring 5.0 percent ABV and 35 IBUs. Brewed with flaked oats for a creamy sweetness, this sessionable beer is balanced, offering a slight bite thanks to citrusy Northwest-grown Cascade, Centennial and Magnum hops. The Pre-Flight Pilsner is a pre-prohibition style pilsner, fuller in body with a distinct, spicy hop presence, attributed to the Hallertauer and Saaz hops used to brew it. Offering 5.0 percent ABV and 30 IBUs, it’s perfect for the next time you’re assigned that middle seat on a cross-country red-eye.

“Cans felt like the perfect fit for these new brews,” added Airways cofounder Dione Dittmar. “Both sessionable, yet very flavorful, they’re perfect for enjoying throughout the day and the cans make them even more accessible.”

Also brewed just for the occasion is Airways Brewing’s Third Anniversary Belgian Dark Strong. Featuring 9.9 percent ABV and 26 IBUs, this complex, yet smooth beer is filled with rich, dark fruit flavors, paired with notes of fruit and spice on the nose. Brewed with Hallertauer hops, this limited edition beer will be available for purchase only in 22-ounce bottles at the anniversary party and specialty beer shops shortly thereafter.

In addition to the exciting array of new releases, attendees of the growing brewery’s Third Anniversary Party – taking place from 2-7pm on Saturday, March 9 at Airways’ Brewery & Tap Room (6644 S 196th St. #T-100, Kent, WA) – will enjoy $4-$5 pints of Airways Brewing’s year-round offerings, including the brewery’s new Chocolate Stout and infamous Sky Hag IPA®. Added to the list are a few special offering and old favorites including Ol’ Wooden Hangar, Berliner Weisse (German sour wheat) and a cask of Maylani’s Coconut-Chocolate Tropical Stout. Food will be available for purchase from popular food truck Lumpia World. Each attendee will receive a free limited edition Airways Brewing can koozie, while Belgian-style anniversary glassware, custom growlers and Airways apparel will be available for purchase.

For more information about Airways Brewing, the third anniversary party or its selection of handcrafted brews, be sure to follow Airways Brewing Company on Facebook and Twitter, or visit www.airwaysbrewing.com. Please note, Airways Brewing Company’s Brewery & Tap Room is a 21+ establishment; no children or dogs allowed.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Airways Brewing Company is releasing a sweet treat for craft beer lovers throughout the Seattle and Tacoma area. A new beer to the Kent-based brewery’s expanding line of delicious handcrafted brews, Airways Brewing’s Chocolate Stout will be available in 22-ounce bottles and on draught beginning Tuesday, February 12. With a special run just for the holiday, this delicious Chocolate Stout will soon join Airways’ year round lineup, making it the perfect gift for the beer lover in your life – no matter the day.

“We first brewed our Chocolate Stout as a test batch for the Tap Room and the reaction we received was overwhelming,” said Alex Dittmar, owner and head brewer at Airways Brewing Company. “People really seemed to enjoy the unique twist it provided on the traditional stout.”

Airways’ Chocolate Stout is an easy drinking one with the subtle chocolate aroma, thanks to the 10 pounds of locally sourced cocoa nibs added to each batch. Ebony in color with a rich creamy head, Airways’ Chocolate Stout features a mellow flavor of oats, chocolate malt and real chocolate, perfectly balanced with the right amount of hops for a bittersweet finish. Featuring an approachable 35 IBUs and 5.5 percent ABV, this Chocolate Stout pairs well with beef and almost any dessert, and of course, tastes delicious just on its own.

Beginning Monday, February 11, Airways Chocolate Stout will be available in 22-ounce bottles at both Airways locations for $5.50, and throughout the Seattle and Tacoma area at select specialty bottle shops – including 99 Bottles, Beer Junction, Chucks 85th St. Market, LetsPour, Pike Grocery, Pint Defiance, Special Brews and more. With a special run just in time for Valentine’s Day, Airways Brewing’s Chocolate Stout will soon be available in bottles and on draught year round.

For those planning an evening out on the town, Airways Brewing Beer & Bistro in historic downtown Kent will be offering the new Chocolate Stout on draught, paired with a special Valentine’s Day dessert menu. Offering something for each sweet tooth, the menu will feature three delicious dessert pizzas, including Chocolate Nutella Strawberry, The Elvis (peanut butter, honey and banana) and Sweet Cream with Berries.

In addition to Airways’ Chocolate Stout, craft beer enthusiasts can pick up the brewery’s flagship Sky Hag IPA in 22-ounce bottles. Pints, tasters and growlers of Sky Hag, Chocolate Stout and more can also be found at the Airways Brewing Tap Room or Airways Brewing Beer & Bistro in historic downtown Kent.

Today, Two Beers Brewing is proud to announce the fast-approaching release of its new Alta Series on Saturday, February 2! Featuring four bold, complex ales – each reaching above 9.0 percent ABV and boasting its own distinct personality – the Alta Series has been handcrafted to offer a unique twist with every sip. Whether its the complexity obtained by aging in brandy barrels, the tartness imparted by fresh fruits or unique twist provided by a complex blend of spices, the Alta Series sets out to distinguish itself from the others and reach the upper limits.

“This new limited edition series gives us a chance to really showcase a different side of Two Beers Brewing,” stated Joel VandenBrink, founder and head brewer at Two Beers Brewing Co. “The Alta Series is our tribute to lofty heights and to the crazy pursuit of the upper limits in life. These small batch beers truly push the envelope and are unlike anything we’ve ever created.”

The first beer released as part of Two Beers Brewing’s new Alta Series will be the Switchback Russian Imperial Stout. A style born out of the cold north and the Russian courts desire for rich, toasty brews, The Alta Series’ Russian Imperial Stout has been barrel aged in brandy barrels for six months, followed by four months of aging on Theo organic cocoa nibs, vanilla beans and bing cherries. A deep, multilayered beer, Switchback features a 12 percent ABV, 50 IBUs and SRM of 77. Its thick, smooth body carries immense, complex flavors of coffee, plums, chocolate, cherries, vanilla and highland peat under a deep milk-chocolate creamy head.

Marking the launch of the Alta Series, Switchback will be released on Saturday, February 2 at Two Beers Brewing’s SoDo tasting room, The Woods. Beginning at 11 am, craft beer enthusiasts can purchase one of only 1,000 22-ounce bottles for $13 each (limit six per customer), one week before they are released to Seattle area retailers and bottle shops. Attendees of the Alta Series launch party will also enjoy a special lineup of Two Beers Brewing beers on tap, including barrel-aged The Hearth Winter Warmer, barrel-aged Evolutionary IPA and bourbon-infused Heart of Darkness Imperial CDA. Finally, guests will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets – $5 each benefitting the Washington Trails Association – for the chance to win one of two 3-liter bottles or one 6-liter bottle of Switchback Russian Imperial Stout (each valued at more than $200). Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the following week with a winner selected the week of February 10.

In addition to a new look for the growing Seattle microbrewery, including screen-printed bottles and a hand-dipped wax seal, each bottle has been signed and individually numbered by the very person who bottled it. The next three beers in the series are scheduled for release in May, August and November. Follow Two Beers Brewing on Facebook and Twitter (@twobeersbrewing), or visit www.twobeersbrewery.com, for more information and the latest Alta Series updates.
