New Year, New Adventure

Four years ago, I took on my first freelance client. Joel VandenBrink, owner of Two Beers Brewing, and I had met at my very first brewery event upon moving to Seattle. He heard I left my agency job for a job at the Downtown Seattle Association and was curious if I’d like to take on a client on the side. Represent a brewery in my off time? Of course. Well, one client led to two, and two led to three. A year later, I was able to quit my job and officially open Caitlin Braam Creative as a freelance PR/marketing consultant.

In those four years, I have had the pleasure of working with a myriad of exciting companies and executing some amazing campaigns. Some of these include: Trophy Cupcakes’ book launch; the launch of Churchkey Can Co. in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco & New York; the launch of Seattle Cider Company; the rebranding of Two Beers Brewing; the promotion of the amazing cider & gluten free food available at Capitol Cider; and many more.

It seems like just yesterday I started freelancing. But with 2014 coming to a close, so does Caitlin Braam Creative. I have been offered my dream job as Director of Marketing & Brand Development for Seattle Cider Company and Two Beers Brewing Co. I have worked with both of these companies and their amazing employees for some time now, and couldn’t think of a better team to join full time. It’s funny that the company that started my freelance career is the one ending it, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Kendall over at the Washington Beer Blog was kind enough to announce the news a couple weeks ago. I had known about the position for a while, but that article made it feel real. The three-hour kickoff meeting I had today (my official first day) with Joel also made it feel real. I’ll continue to manage media outreach, marketing and social media for both Two Beers Brewing and Seattle Cider Company, with the added responsibility of distribution growth and management for both companies. For Two Beers Brewing, this means growing our roots even deeper within the Pacific Northwest. For Seattle Cider Company, this means launching in a dozen new states in 2015. It’ll be exciting, to say the least!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me, cheered me on and allowed me to represent their company over the past four years. I couldn’t have done it without you. And a very special thanks to my family and my loving husband, who believed in me and gave me the extra shove I needed to embark on this crazy adventure.

As for this site, we’ll see what happens. I’ll keep it updated with all things Two Beers Brewing and Seattle Cider Company related, but might throw in a fun post or two about my travels. All depends on where this new adventure takes me.

Here’s to 2015 and living what you love. Cheers!

While we love a sunny summer, it’s no secret Seattleites love the return of fall – rain, grey skies and all. Two Beers Brewing s newest seasonal, Grey Skies, is an ode to the weather we all crave, yet complain about come February. A dark pale ale, this Northwest seasonal is as easy drinking as it is flavorful, pairing well with cold days and long nights.
